Mud Run Trainers

These are just a few of the frequently asked questions about the mud run. If you have a question or concern just let us know and we will respond.

1. Should I duck tape my shoes? This is a personal preference.  My team has done it every year and never had to stop and tie shoes, lost a shoe orhad any problems of the sorts.  However, too much tape on the bottom will caise you to slip.  1 loop around is plenty.

2. What should I wear?  No loose fitting clothes and nothing that you ever want to wear again.  Most women prefer spandex type running shorts or shorts with a draw string ( they tend to get weighted down with all of the mud and water). As far a tops go for women, I would highly recommend wearing a shirt of some sort,no cotton of course.  Due to the change up in obsticles this year, your chest and stomache are going come in contact with them. Most men go shorts and no shirts. (tight fitting shirts if you decide to wear one)  loose clothing is liable to get caught in an obstacle

3. How should I train?  Inerval training and lots of cardio- try a sample of the workout at www.mudruntraining.com to get an idea of the type of training.  This IS NOT a bench press and curl workout; nor bodypump either for that matter! All I can say is that after running the course you better get your run on. 4.5 miles this year with 31 obsticles.

4. What should I eat the night before/morning of?  The night before, make sure to get a good meal around 6-7:00Whole grains and lots of H2O. No heavy foods, nor white starches, as they will give you no energy at all.  Also, stay away from alcohol the night before so as not to get dehydrated

5. What if we can't get over the wall or complete an obsticle?  The wall is 100% team event-  If you dont complete certain obstacles (walls, mud oits etc)additional minutes will be added to your overall finish time. There are going to be Marines at each obsticle and they will be watching for those who do not complete an obsticle.

6. Can I wear glasses? you CAN wear glasses, but make sure and strap them on.  Whether its contacts, glasses or nothing at all; you WILL get mud in your eyes, so be prepared

7. Can I take my mp3 player? NO ipods, mp3s or headphones are allowed
